For a home or business

If the hardware works but you need to change who holds a key, start with rekeying. If a lock catches or a latch no longer meets its strike, start with repair. Installation is a separate discussion about new or replacement hardware.

For a lockout, identify the affected entrance and who can authorize work. A private door and a common lobby may need different arrangements.

For a vehicle or garage

Say whether the key is inside the car, missing or present but not responding. Prepare the vehicle year, make, model and actual parking location.

For an overhead garage door, describe movement, sound and what changed. A keyed garage side door is a different lock request. Stop using an overhead door that looks damaged or uneven.
